The Mediation Center of the Coastal Empire builds resilient communities through education, access to justice, and peaceful conflict resolution. Since 1986, the Center has served Chatham County and the surrounding region by providing mediation in civil and family law, restorative justice programs, conflict de-escalation services, and training for individuals, schools, and organizations. Harnessing the power of volunteers, the Center reaches thousands of people each year with programs that promote healing, equity, and community well-being.
The Executive Director serves as the chief executive, responsible for strategy, fundraising, operations, and partnerships. Working closely with the Board of Directors, the ED provides vision, ensures financial stability, and cultivates strong relationships with staff, volunteers, donors, and community partners to advance the mission of accessible conflict resolution.
The ideal candidate has at least 7 years of nonprofit or mission-driven leadership experience, with expertise in fundraising, program oversight, financial management, and staff development. A bachelor’s degree is required; a master’s degree in nonprofit management, conflict resolution, public administration, law, or a related field is preferred. Experience in mediation, restorative practices, or conflict resolution is strongly valued (or willingness to obtain certification). Candidates should bring strong communication skills, community engagement expertise, and a deep commitment to equity and inclusivity.
