Destination Imagination (DI) is a global nonprofit dedicated to fostering creativity, problem-solving, and collaboration through hands-on academic Challenge programs in STEM, fine arts, and social entrepreneurship. With affiliates across the U.S. and in 30 countries, DI engages over 150,000 students annually, supported by 38,000 volunteers, and hosts Global Finals—the world’s largest celebration of student creativity.
The Chief Executive Officer will serve as the strategic and operational leader, responsible for guiding the organization’s vision, strengthening programming, and ensuring financial sustainability. The CEO will work closely with the Board of Trustees, staff, and a global network of affiliates and volunteers to expand DI’s reach, diversify revenue streams, and champion creativity as an essential skill for innovation and collaboration.
The ideal candidate has senior-level leadership experience in a nonprofit or business of comparable scope, ideally with affiliate or chapter structures. Demonstrated success in fundraising, revenue diversification, and managing complex budgets is essential. Strong skills in communications, board relations, and volunteer engagement are required, along with a global mindset and passion for advancing creativity and education.
