The organization oversees a complex portfolio of public housing, vouchers, and development projects serving the Chelmsford community and beyond.


The Role

The Executive Director serves as the Chief Executive Officer, reporting to the Board of Commissioners. This role provides overall leadership, strategic direction, and operational oversight of CHA’s programs, properties, and partnerships. The Executive Director will guide redevelopment and modernization projects, ensure compliance with HUD and Massachusetts EOHLC regulations, and maintain strong relationships with residents, partners, and the broader community.


What They’re Looking For

The ideal candidate has at least eight years of senior leadership experience in housing, community development, or nonprofit management, with deep knowledge of federal and state affordable housing programs (including Section 8, LIHTC, RAD, and state public housing). Strong financial management, staff supervision, and redevelopment experience are essential. Excellent communication skills and a proven ability to work effectively with residents, staff, policymakers, and a governing board are required. Certification as a Massachusetts Public Housing Administrator (or the ability to obtain it within the first year) is preferred.
