Congregation Ohr Shalom–Summit JCC (COS-SJCC) is a conservative egalitarian synagogue serving about 280 member families in the NJ/NYC suburbs. Along with its Early Learning Center (preschool) and Jewish Learning Center (religious school), the congregation provides spiritual, educational, and cultural programs for all ages, with a strong focus on inclusion, community, and lifelong Jewish engagement.
The Executive Director will serve as the chief strategic, administrative, and operational leader of COS-SJCC. In partnership with clergy, staff, and the Board of Trustees, the ED will oversee daily operations, financial management, membership engagement, fundraising, and program delivery across the synagogue, preschool, and religious school. This role ensures the organization’s vitality while fostering a welcoming and dynamic Jewish community.
The ideal candidate has proven leadership experience in nonprofit or Jewish communal administration, with strengths in staff management, budgeting, and fundraising. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are required, along with the ability to partner effectively with clergy, lay leaders, and members. A bachelor’s degree is required; knowledge of Jewish traditions and synagogue life is preferred.
