Founded in 1998, DanceSafe is a national nonprofit dedicated to promoting health, safety, and fulfilling experiences for people who use drugs and their communities. With roots in the electronic music and nightlife scene, DanceSafe has become a leader in harm reduction, offering programs like drug checking, community outreach, training, and consent education. Guided by values of authenticity, community, and collaboration, DanceSafe works to create safer and more inclusive spaces while advancing public health and social justice.
The Executive Director will lead DanceSafe into its next phase of growth, working closely with the Board of Directors and executive leadership team. Responsibilities include providing strategic vision, ensuring organizational sustainability, overseeing financial health, and guiding programs rooted in harm reduction. The ED will also serve as a public ambassador for DanceSafe, advancing progressive drug policy reform and fostering partnerships across communities.
The ideal candidate is a collaborative, community-rooted leader with a proven track record in nonprofit executive leadership. They should have experience managing organizational growth, securing large grants and major gifts, and building strong teams in remote environments. A deep understanding of harm reduction, drug policy, or public health—and lived experience within the communities DanceSafe serves—is highly valued.
