East Side Freedom Library (ESFL) is a nonprofit dedicated to mobilizing community knowledge for solidarity, justice, and equity. Founded in 2013, ESFL houses a special collection of more than 35,000 books and materials, serving as a hub where immigrants, working-class families, people of color, and others come together to share histories, build connections, and create new knowledge and action.
The Executive Director will serve as ESFL’s chief executive, responsible for strategic vision, fundraising, financial oversight, program direction, and community partnerships. Working closely with the Board of Directors, the ED ensures ESFL remains a trusted builder and connector in the East Side community.
The ideal candidate has 5+ years of nonprofit or similar leadership experience, including managing staff, strategy, and budgets. Strong skills in fundraising, grant management, financial oversight, and community engagement are essential. Candidates should demonstrate intercultural competency, a commitment to anti-racism and equity, and the ability to inspire and build relationships across diverse communities.
