Full-time
On-site
Fairbanks, Alaska, United States
Arts & Culture

Overview

The Tanana Valley State Fair Association (TVSFA) is a nonprofit membership organization dedicated to hosting an annual fair that brings the community together for family-friendly fun. Founded in 1924, TVSFA operates over 100 acres in Interior Alaska and produces a 10-day summer fair featuring livestock, arts and crafts, competitive exhibits, games, rides, entertainment, and vendors—with support from 1,000+ volunteers, partners, and sponsors. The fairgrounds are also an increasingly year-round gathering space, hosting concerts, special events (including the World Ice Art Championships), and a revenue-generating campground.

The Role

The Executive Director will serve as the chief executive, responsible for organizational strategy and change management, operations and facilities oversight, and community partnerships and revenue growth. Working closely with a 9-member Board of Directors, the ED ensures sound financial management, modernizes systems (e.g., digital ticketing), and leads long-term planning and capital projects to upgrade aging infrastructure.

A participatory, relationship-driven leader with excellent communication, conflict resolution, and organizational skills is essential. Experience managing significant fixed assets and public events is desirable. Bachelor’s or advanced degree (or equivalent experience) preferred. Commitment to safety protocols and to TVSFA’s values—family, community, diversity, engagement, partnership, and fun—is required.
