Overview

Friends of the Family is a nonprofit dedicated to ending homelessness and supporting survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. Serving communities across Iowa, the organization leads with the Housing First approach, builds strong community partnerships, and provides individualized support to help people achieve safety, stability, and independence.

The Role

The Executive Director will serve as the regional leader, responsible for strategy, operations, staff management, and community engagement. Reporting to the CEO, the ED ensures effective program delivery, strong partnerships, and alignment with the organization’s mission and values. The ED will advocate for survivors, oversee regional staff, and help drive systemic change through collaboration and innovation.

What They’re Looking For

The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s degree in human services, public administration, business leadership, or related field (or comparable experience). Leadership experience in victim services, homelessness, or similar mission-driven work is preferred. Strong skills in team management, community engagement, and problem-solving are essential. Familiarity with Housing First, trauma-informed care, and the Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS) is a plus.
