Hawai‘i Children’s Action Network (HCAN) is a nonpartisan nonprofit dedicated to building a united voice for Hawai‘i’s keiki. With both 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(4) structures, HCAN educates, advocates, and mobilizes families, community leaders, and policymakers to improve the health, education, safety, and economic security of children. Its vision is a Hawai‘i where well-funded, family-focused policies and programs ensure every child can learn, grow, and thrive.
The Executive Director serves as the chief executive, responsible for strategic direction, fiscal oversight, fundraising, staff leadership, and external relations. Partnering closely with the Board of Directors, the ED ensures organizational effectiveness, financial sustainability, and strong advocacy to advance child- and family-centered policies.
The ideal candidate brings at least 7–10 years of senior leadership experience in nonprofit management, policy advocacy, or related fields. Strong skills in fundraising, financial management, program oversight, and community engagement are required. A bachelor’s degree is required; an advanced degree is preferred. Candidates must demonstrate deep connections to Hawai‘i’s diverse communities, a commitment to equity and social justice, and a proven ability to secure funding and influence policy.
