Overview

The Mountain Lion Foundation is a nonprofit dedicated to ensuring that America’s lions survive and thrive. For over 35 years, the Foundation has led the way in mountain lion protection through science, advocacy, and public education—advancing coexistence, defending wildlife corridors, and strengthening ecological balance.

The Role

The Executive Director will serve as the chief executive, responsible for organizational strategy, fundraising, operations, and partnerships. Working closely with the Board of Directors, the ED ensures the Foundation’s visibility, impact, and long-term sustainability. This leader will launch bold conservation campaigns, grow donor support, and cultivate collaborative relationships to expand the Foundation’s influence.

What They’re Looking For

The ideal candidate has significant senior leadership experience in nonprofits, conservation, or mission-aligned sectors. Strong skills in fundraising, finance, program development, and community engagement are essential. A bachelor’s degree is required (advanced degree preferred). A passion for wildlife conservation—and especially mountain lions—is key.
