Overview

S.T.R.O.N.G. Youth, Inc. is a grassroots nonprofit dedicated to youth, family, and community development with a focus on youth violence prevention and intervention. Founded in 2000, it was the first youth-driven, multi-ethnic organization on Long Island addressing gang and gun violence. With an annual budget of ~$1.5 million and a team of 20 staff, S.T.R.O.N.G. provides prevention programs, family support, and advocacy rooted in a transformational justice framework.

The Role

The Executive Director will serve as chief executive, responsible for overall leadership, fundraising, program oversight, and community advocacy. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED will guide organizational strategy, build partnerships, expand fundraising efforts, manage finances, and ensure high-quality program delivery that advances safety and belonging for youth and families.

What They’re Looking For

The ideal candidate has at least 5 years of nonprofit management experience, with expertise in community violence prevention and intervention. Strong leadership skills, fundraising success, financial management, and ability to work with diverse stakeholders are essential. A commitment to transformational justice and addressing systemic inequities is required.
