Executive Director — Shark Conservation Fund (Remote, United States)
$200,000–$220,000 • Full-time • Remote
The Shark Conservation Fund (SCF) is a leading global philanthropic initiative dedicated to restoring ocean health through the conservation of sharks and rays. Established in 2016, SCF unites donors to halt the decline of shark and ray populations, protect marine ecosystems, and advance science-based policy. SCF supports initiatives in over 80 locations worldwide, focusing on fisheries reform, preventing extinctions, and expanding marine protected areas.
The Executive Director will lead SCF at a pivotal moment for marine conservation, overseeing strategy, operations, fundraising, and partnerships. Reporting to a Board of Advisors of leading ocean philanthropists, the ED will shape conservation priorities, scale impact, and strengthen SCF’s visibility as the only strategic regrantor exclusively dedicated to shark and ray conservation.
The ideal candidate has at least 15 years of nonprofit or program leadership experience, with a strong background in environmental or international conservation. Proven fundraising ability, financial management, and board/staff leadership are essential. Knowledge of shark conservation is a plus, but not required. Candidates should bring credibility in the global conservation field and the ability to serve as a trusted ambassador and strategist.
