Overview

The Nature Foundation at Wintergreen (TNFW) is a nonprofit dedicated to fostering understanding and appreciation of the natural and cultural heritage of the Central Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. Since 1993, TNFW has conserved 6,000 acres, led environmental education programs reaching thousands of students, and partnered with universities and research institutions to advance conservation science.

The Role

The Executive Director will serve as the chief executive, responsible for strategy, fundraising, operations, and community partnerships. Working closely with the Board of Directors, the ED ensures TNFW’s mission of conservation, education, and research continues to thrive while engaging the Wintergreen community and beyond.

What They’re Looking For

The ideal candidate has at least 5 years of senior nonprofit leadership experience, with strong skills in fundraising, financial management, program development, and community engagement. A background in natural history or environmental science is highly desirable. A passion for conservation and environmental stewardship is required.
