Wolf Ridge Environmental Learning Center is a nationally recognized nonprofit providing outdoor, hands-on learning for children, families, and adults across the upper Midwest. Founded in 1971, Wolf Ridge was the first accredited K–12 environmental learning center in the U.S. and now serves over 10,000 participants annually. Its 2,000-acre campus and field station offer a classroom with no boundaries—fostering curiosity, leadership, and stewardship for the natural world.
The Executive Director (ED) serves as the chief leader and ambassador for Wolf Ridge, guiding staff, board, and partners to achieve strategic goals. This role oversees operations, fundraising, partnerships, and strategic planning while ensuring Wolf Ridge continues to thrive as a national leader in environmental education. About 70% of the ED’s time will be devoted to external relations, fundraising, and partnerships, with 30% on internal management and operations.
Wolf Ridge seeks a visionary, values-driven leader with at least 10 years of senior/executive management experience, ideally in nonprofit or educational settings. The ideal candidate will bring strong fundraising expertise, financial management skills, and a passion for environmental education. A collaborative, authentic leadership style with emotional intelligence, adaptability, and the ability to inspire others is essential.
